3 Kinds Of Insulation You Can Choose

If you are getting ready to do some renovation work on your house, you may need to think about the insulation in your walls. If you are putting in new walls, you want to make sure that you put in new insulation so your house stays nice and warm. When it comes to insulation, there are all kinds of choices out there that you can choose from. Here are a few options to consider:

Blown Insulation

One of the choices you have is blown insulation. With blown insulation, you can choose to use things like recycled denim or cellulose. The insulation is tightly packed into containers. Then, when it's time to install it, the insulating material is broken apart and then put into the blower so that it can be spread throughout the walls. The blower will help separate the material out so that it can be easily distributed out into the house. The nice thing about using this kind of insulation is that it can be installed through holes drilled into existing walls.

Expanding Foam Insulation

This insulation gets sprayed onto the area where it is getting installed. Expanding foam insulation is like shaving cream. When it is first sprayed, it's flat, and once it is out on the wall and away from the compression in the sprayer, it starts expanding. The foam will expand out into the available space. If the wall is under construction and doesn't have any drywall cover, the foam will keep expanding until it has reached its maximum expansion. Once the insulation cures and hardens, it will have to be trimmed down so that the drywall can be installed over the insulation. Like the blown insulation, this can be retrofitted into your house because it can be installed through holes in existing walls.

Batt Insulation

This is a more traditional insulation. It generally looks like big, thick, pink batts. The batts can be trimmed into just about any size so that they can fit into most spaces. However, this insulation can't be installed without taking the walls down. That's because you have to be able to get into the space behind the walls to install it.

If you are going to do some renovation work on your house, you may want to add more insulation to your house. However, there are a lot of choices available to you. Fortunately, you can find one that will work best for both the new parts of your house and the old parts. Contact an insulation company for additional information.
